Pre-First students are using their Google classroom accounts to create “e-books”; they are typing out their “How-To” books onto a slides presentation. They are simultaneously using videos on YouTube to follow instructions about formatting, which means clicking between multiple tabs and links. Soon they will also be importing photos of themselves to use as the pictures for the book, and then using “Screencast” to record their voices reading the pages to create a completed audio-visual presentation. You can see a presentation in progress below. As always, we continue to use Raz-Kids and other literacy apps on the iPads during Daily 5 and math centers.

Third graders are using iPads in a variety of ways. They continue to use Front Row for individualized math practice. 4th grade continues to use ClassDojo to document and monitor student behavior and send reports to parents. Some classes are using various math fact and bar model apps during center work and Plickers for exit slips. We also continue to use Spelling City for Words Their Way practice. The student-made weather videos created last month are now ready to share. Students recorded these videos using the classroom iPads and editing with the iMovie app. This project helped teachers assess students’ understanding of specific content in science as well as evaluate their English speaking skills.
In 3rd grade, we are using iPads for spelling work and fluency in reading. Teachers are continuing to use Front Row for differentiation. Front Row is an app that allows teachers to create targeted practice sessions for students on specific domains and standards within Math and Language Arts. Students and teachers enjoy using the app.
In English, students are using the iPads on a daily basis for: Xtramath, Spelling City, and RAZ Kids.
