Students in third grade are using iPads in new ways this month. After reading an issue of TIME FOR KIDS, students used the Educreations app to create a graphic explaining the current situation in Catalonia, Spain. Students were responsible for adding and editing text, finding and adding and image, and uploading the finished work to their Google Drive. Students used the Make Belief Comix app to create comic strips using vocabulary words. All work is then saved and uploaded to their Google Drives.
Students have been working hard all year in the Technology Lab. They began the year naming the different parts of the computer and practicing the fine motor skills required to manipulate the mouse. Now, they are creating and editing Google Presentations and editing images and text. Students are now able to receive and complete assignments digitally!
Some Pre-First teachers are now pushing forward with Google Classroom integration. The differentiation possibilities are exciting and the teachers are confident that these young students are fully capable. Students in Ms. Kristin's first grade class had the unique opportunity to hangout with first graders from Green Bay, Wisconsin, USA! Using Google Hangouts, Ms. Kristin and her class were able to answer and ask questions to students in the USA. The kids were prepared, polite, engaged, and extremely excited. It was such an enriching activity, with students on both sides of the conference learning from each other. PS> The Green Bay students wanted to make sure that we knew that Aaron Rodgers is the best quarterback in the history of the world. |
