We continue to document student learning in math and reading using iPads. Students solve math problems by explaining and illustrating their work using the app Screenchomp. They also record themselves reading and explaining reading comprehension strategies.

We created mimio activities to show and understand place value. The mimio was used to review the body parts of a bird. We also created interactive Venn Diagram lessons to compare and contrast different types of animals. We talked about the importance of a “just right” book. I took a picture of one of my student’s journal. She referenced her writing as she shared at the front of the classroom. First grade continues to use interactive Mimio lessons. Student engagement is high, especially during math lessons. The virtual math manipulatives are especially useful and hands-on. En español los niños aprenden acerca de los grupos de alimentos con actividades interactivas en el Mimio y ligas en internet: Plato que habla,Plato del Bien Comer, así como a través de videos.
Pre-First teachers are using technology in a number of new ways. Math and phonics lessons are now being projected using an iPad and Airplay. Students are more engaged with interactive lessons using Mimio whiteboards and projectors. The iPads are being put into students' hands, utilizing the numerous interactive texts on Raz-Kids. Students are able to read and listen to leveled readers on this site, using newly purchased headphone splitters.
