We continue to document student learning in math and reading using iPads. Students solve math problems by explaining and illustrating their work using the app Screenchomp. They also record themselves reading and explaining reading comprehension strategies.
We created mimio activities to show and understand place value. The mimio was used to review the body parts of a bird. We also created interactive Venn Diagram lessons to compare and contrast different types of animals. We talked about the importance of a “just right” book. I took a picture of one of my student’s journal. She referenced her writing as she shared at the front of the classroom. Pre-First has continued to use the iPads during our Reading Groups to read and listen to reading on Raz-Kids as well as work on phonics using the Teach Your Monster to Read app. We have also just begun publishing some stories about being thankful using KidPix to type the words and illustrate. Students practice their spelling words each week on the website Spelling City from home. Every morning we use our projector to watch educational videos for math and phonics.
