Pre-First students are using their Google classroom accounts to create “e-books”; they are typing out their “How-To” books onto a slides presentation. They are simultaneously using videos on YouTube to follow instructions about formatting, which means clicking between multiple tabs and links. Soon they will also be importing photos of themselves to use as the pictures for the book, and then using “Screencast” to record their voices reading the pages to create a completed audio-visual presentation. You can see a presentation in progress below. As always, we continue to use Raz-Kids and other literacy apps on the iPads during Daily 5 and math centers.

Second graders are starting the year learning how to be responsible digital citizens. They understand the difference between public and private information, including personal information that they should never give out. They have also been discussing what makes a good password. They have school-based email accounts and have learned how to use those accounts safely. |
