Fourth grade students kicked off the year by presenting the elementary news via the ASFG Kids News Podcast. Every week, four students work with Miss Rachel to practice being an effective communicator. The oral language skills that we practice are to speak clearly, loudly, slowly, and to take appropriate breathes. The practice of podcasts will help the students with their Folklorama presentations in June 2018. Join us every Friday at 8:00 am to hear ASFG Kids News!
Folklorama 2017 has officially come to an end with all of its triumphs and glory. This year 4th grade students were able to present their year-long cumulative research projects at their student led conferences on June 6. The students began the school year by creating a digital portfolio in the new Google Sites. Both the English and Spanish curriculum was represented and demonstrated learned or enriched research skills. Feel feel to check them out for yourself!
First grade has been working hard to solidify their addition problem solving strategies of numbers to 40, with and without regrouping. In 1-16, Miss Rachel introduced the iPad app Klikaklu to run a photo scavenger hunt in the classroom. Once students found the image clue, they were given an addition problem to solve with a partner. The next scavenger hunt was completed in the green area. Practicing math has never been so fun!
