Dr. Butler continues to lead the way in STEAM integration. His final project with his seniors was a perfect example of an integrated STEAM project. Students were given materials to construct a vehicle that would successfully protect an egg during a high speed crash. The students used their scientific and artistic knowledge to design and build the vehicle. They then engineered and constructed the actual crash course, aiming to achieve the highest possible velocity for the vehicles. During the actual crashes, students used a digital speed trap and advanced physics formulas to calculate the maximum velocity of the vehicles. Some eggs survived...some weren't so lucky.
