This after school training does not include a presentation. Below you will find an outline of what we will do in this session and links to all of the resources. Make sure you are logged in to your Google account for this session.
| Auto-Grade Example Please answer the questions in the demo quiz. Enter your real name and choose any class period. These questions were designed in order to help us talk about the types of questions, not to test your knowledge of Iowa. |
Flubaroo is an easy way to automatically grade quizzes and send a results email to students. In today's demo, I will quickly grade the demo quiz and send participants their results. You can see the detailed instructions for using Flubaroo on the Teacher Resources website.
Rubrics
Google Forms allows you create a rubric using the Scale type question. Below is an example of the Group Work Peer Evaluation Rubric developed by Charlotte Whetstone specifically for students reviewing peers in group projects. The results spreadsheet can be easily organized in order to create a points or percentage grade.
In the example, I copied the list of students from a Powerschool Report and pasted them into a Choose from a list type of question. If you have a list of students' email addresses, you can use that instead. That will allow you to send emails to students with their results (see the next section for more information).

Collecting Work and Emailing Feedback
Recently, 7th grade students created a Google Site Portfolio. They submitted the link to their site using the simple Google form below. This is a great way to collect and share links to sites, documents, or other electronic work. For example, last year 5th grade students submitted their Voki using a Google Form. Then I embedded the results on the project website so students could look at each other's work.
| Let's look at the responses to the LA Portfolio Link form. I organized the responses by class period and last name to facilitate grading. As I checked each student's site, I typed comments in the column next to their name. After I finish writing feedback and points or percentage grades, I can email each student their personal feedback using an add-on. |
There are multiple add-ons for sending automated emails. I use Yet Another Mail Merge. It is a little bit complicated, but it can save you a lot of time. I also found instructions for Yet Another Mail Merge in Español.

Google forms and spreadsheets have saved me a lot of time in the past two years. Grading 400 students five times a year required me to use time efficiently, and Google Forms and Sheets have been a huge help. I am happy to meet with you one-on-one to help you implement some of these ideas. Contact me at [email protected].
