For General Music in 6th grade, students used Flipboard to curate information about social justice issues. They investigated and discussed the issue and wrote songs. Students were engaged in learning about the social justice issues they chose and writing their own original protest/social justice songs.
Band students are also using technology. The 8th graders recently worked with Garageband to create music electronically. Now they are working with Finale Notepad and learning how to compose music that will represent their spring break.
