Third graders had an exciting cross-curricular Biography unit this month. Language Arts and Social Studies standards were addressed while students learned about international heroes. Students began by reading and researching a person of their choice. Once they had the appropriate information, they input the information into a customized Google Sheet Timeline. This biography timeline was then uploaded to a classroom website.

Second grade continues to integrate iPads into all areas of the curriculum. Daily math differentiated math practice has been very helpful, using apps like Front Row and Xtra Math. Like a number of grade levels, Raz-kids is being utilized to support literacy instruction. iPads are also being used for research in cross-curricular projects. Students are continuing to practice typing and publishing skills on desktop computers. First graders are using technology in all curriculum areas. iPads are being used for literacy, using sites like Raz-kids, Spelling City for word work, Storyline Online, and Tumble Books. Students are researching for a social studies map unit, looking up various locations, including Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico, North America, and Earth. For math integration, iPads are used for online math games, including Front Row. Students made their own world maps using Paint and Google Slides. Students will share these maps with their parents during our upcoming Student-Led Conferences on our map unit.
