In 4th grade students have been working on using videos in math. They use the app “Explain Everything” to record themselves giving a math lesson then they use the website zaption.com to create a “tour” with that video. A tour means that the final video has been edited by the teacher to include extra written explanations, pictures, and/or questions. The questions have been the most useful to us. These questions are created by the teacher at a certain point in the video. The video stops and the student must answer the question before the video continues. We have found this to be very helpful because the students put into practice the topic being taught in the video, and the teachers have documented assessment as the instruction is going on. Using these types of videos to give math lessons has been helpful to differentiate instruction as well. We are enjoying exploring these teaching tools and look forward to developing them even more as the weeks and units progress. |

This looks like a really interesting program. How many times have you used this with the students?
