In N2 we study one book a week, this time we read The Gingerbread Man. We liked the book so much that we decided to make our own audiobook to add to the listening center and be able to access it later. We used the Read & Record Gingerbread Man app in the iPad to record our voices reading the story while sliding through the e-book. Then, we played the audiobook in our Smart Board and used the video and audio recorder tool to turn our audiobook into a movie.
EC has a new Smart Board and N4 could not wait to use it. Children were shown how to use the basic drawing tools and then they took turns to do free exploration. They were encouraged to try different pens and tools such as the eraser. They quickly learned how to draw, change colors and styles. They were impressed with the board’s “magic”. This was just the beginning of many future activities filled with learning.
- Using the iPads to listen to fictional stories to analyze main characters. Students enjoy the interactive version of famous stories because the applications allow them to manipulate the characters.
- Using the iPads to trace and write lowercase letters by using the App “Alphabetizing: A Montessori approach to Language”.
- Recording voice messages using the teacher’s cell phone to communicate with students in other classrooms. The messages include academic concepts, Spanish songs and good wishes to our friends.
