Then teachers demonstrated how to manipulate the mouse in order to give commands to the computer. Afterwards, each student individually worked with the teacher to practice using the mouse. iPhoto was an easy, fun tool with which children could explore and practice freely. They are now excited to use it and they are improving their skills every day.

Children agreed on an important point, that in order to use the computer and the iPad they should take turns. They talked about how they could take turns and they said that they could make a line and wait, they could also use tickets with numbers, or write a list with their names and use a timer. Children finally voted for the timer and since then, this has helped them respect each other’s turns.
When asked to tell the story he had drawn about, the student described each of his drawings. After watching his first recording, the student expanded on what happened during the story. | In K7, students have been learning about how they can use technology to enhance learning. The students have recorded their stories about their drawing and writing. As they watch themselves telling their stories they learn to expand and clarify. They have also had the opportunity to watch and listen to various versions of the classic children’s story “The Gingerbread Man” using Youtube and the classroom computer. They have learned about story variation and how the characters and the setting of a story can change while the overall story can remain the same. They have had opportunity to compare and contrast stories. |
Our students used the Smartboard last week as a setting for stories as they used plastic animals over a projection of natural landscapes, such as a flowing stream and/or flowers swaying in the wind. The children were able to interact with one another making their animals swim in the water, eat together, climb trees, etc.
